Terms & Conditions
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using the website at https://deckbuilderseattle.us or engaging the services of Deck Builder Seattle. By accessing our website or signing a service agreement with us, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Company Information
Deck Builder Seattle is a licensed deck building contractor operating in Seattle, Washington. License: WA #DBSEAT123KP. We are bonded ($25,000 bond) and carry $2M liability general liability insurance.
2. Website Use
This website is provided for informational purposes only. The content — including pricing estimates, timelines, and project descriptions — is for general guidance and does not constitute a formal quote or binding agreement. All project pricing requires an on-site assessment.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or republish any content from this website without our prior written permission.
3. Service Agreements
All deck construction, repair, restoration, and related work is governed by a written service contract signed by both parties prior to commencement. Key terms included in every contract:
- Detailed scope of work and materials specification
- Total project price and payment schedule
- Estimated start and completion dates
- Change order procedure for scope modifications
- Permit responsibility and inspection requirements
No verbal agreement, estimate, or conversation creates a binding obligation until a written contract is signed by an authorized representative of Deck Builder Seattle.
4. Estimates and Pricing
Free estimates provided by phone, email, or on-site visit are valid for 30 days from the date issued unless otherwise stated. Pricing may change if site conditions differ materially from those described at the time of estimate, or if material costs increase significantly before contract execution.
5. Warranty
We provide a 10-year workmanship warranty on all structural deck work performed by our in-house crew. This warranty covers defects in labor and craftsmanship. It does not cover:
- Normal wear and weathering
- Damage caused by improper use, neglect, or third-party modifications
- Acts of nature including storms, flooding, or seismic events
- Manufacturer defects in materials (covered by the manufacturer's own warranty)
Warranty claims must be submitted in writing to hello@deckbuilderseattle.us. We will inspect and respond within 10 business days.
6. Permits and Code Compliance
Where permits are required under Seattle Municipal Code or Washington State building regulations, we will pull the appropriate permits as part of the project. Permit fees are typically included in the project price unless otherwise stated. The client is responsible for providing accurate property information and ensuring legal right to build on the property.
7. Payment Terms
Standard payment schedule is outlined in each service contract. We typically require a deposit upon contract signing, with progress payments and a final payment upon project completion and client walkthrough. We accept check, bank transfer, and major credit cards. Financing options are available — see our financing page for details.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Deck Builder Seattle's total liability for any claim arising from our services or website shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in King County, Washington, under Washington State law, before either party pursues litigation.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, photos, logos, and design — is owned by Deck Builder Seattle or used under license. Project photos may be used by us in our portfolio, website, and marketing materials unless you request otherwise in writing prior to project commencement.
11. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For active service contracts, the terms in effect at the time of signing govern that agreement.
